High finish is today one of the most important factors of sales appeal. To meet this demand this centerless polishing machine, as illustrated, is built for the polishing and buffing of all kinds of materials such as steel, copper, brass, fiber and plastic tubes as well as rods. It will be seen from the photograph that it operates upon principle that is, there is a small cork feed wheel which rotates the work at the correct speed and also feeds through the machine, while the larger contact wheel which is loaded with emery belt, serves for polishing.
The feed wheel has two speeds for varying the speed of rotation of the work piece to suit the diameter, the material, and the class of surface finish required. The feed of the work through the machine is obtained by the machine is obtained by the degree of tilt given to feed wheel spindle.
The buffing attachment can be supplied, if required.
There are facilities to connect the dust collector cabinet to the cover hood of the polishing wheel.
All dimensions are approximate.
Illustration shows the standard polishing machine with solid air cooled contact wheel on which an endless abrasive belt 75 mm. width of any desired grit, is rotated by help of vertical idler stand pulley which can be adjusted by tensioning and tracking device and it thus becomes a highly efficient grinding machine capable of heavy stock removal of any preliminary operations, which may be required.
Air cooled contact wheel:- The cloth section contact wheels are most effective when employed with abrasive bands. The metal hub plates are designed to allow cooling air to pass through the plated cloth sections
OPERATING AND SEETING INSTRUCTIONS
Put the emery belt in cloth wheel and aluminum pulley, by pulling the lever down.
Leave the lever to give tension in emery belt.
Rotate the aluminum wheel by hand and observe the position of emery belt on cloth wheel. It should remain in center. If it is going out of center adjust the given bolts below the aluminum pully shaft. Check the exact position of belt by starting and stopping (Inching) of motor. If emery belt remains in center the adjustment is over.
Ensure the direction of cloth wheel. It should be always clockwise seen from feed end.
Check the direction of cork wheel. It is to be always clockwise seen from feed end.
Gap between cloth wheel and cork wheel if to be adjusted by putting sample pipe. Clockwise rotation of hand wheel will increase the gap and anticlockwise rotation will decrease the gap.
Pipe support should be adjusted 2 to 4mm off center and nearer to cloth wheel.
Pipe support height is adjusted at 130mm from frame. Same if to be re-adjusted after wearing out of support by 2 to 3mm.
Feed is to be adjusted by angular position of cork wheel in vertical direction. Greater the angle in upward direction, greater is the feed.
GENERAL
Pipes to be polished, should be straight.
Ovel pitted pipes will not be polished properly.
Check the directions of rotation of cork wheel and cloth wheel. Both should be clockwise.
Close the cover before starting the machine.
See that will belt guards are in position before starting the machine.
V Belt tensions to be adjusted to give grip in belt for drive.
Cleaning of slide is to be done everyday. Clean the slide, oil it slightly then again clean it. (Excessive oiling will get energy power in slide.)
Gear Box Oil is to be checked every month. (Gear Box Oil SAE 40 or equivalent).
